520 _aG1 is a collection of contemporary graphic design that gathers innovative work from many of the world's most influential designers, and then omits their names from the pages. G1 presents some of the very best of high design and mixes it with raw vernacular graphics, the found images that inspire designers. G1 gives the reader the choice as to whether to see graphics as "authored" works or as part of the exciting continuum of communication that is art direction and design today. While identities are detached from the images, they are available on printed stickers bound into the book for the reader to attach if desired. G1 also invites and provokes readers to follow a journey in space and time. The projects included are placed in sections of two-, three- and four-dimensional design. A supporting text explains the ideas that link the pieces, while the main introduction examines the major themes that appear to excite today's most cutting-edge graphic designers. G1 includes magazine and book design, new media - both internet and CD-Rom, posters, type and typography packaging, signage and identities and more.
